Keikee

Photoshooting for Debut Visuals

Two years ago, I began my journey as a costume designer and had the opportunity to collaborate with the artist Keikee on her debut album's visuals. She approached me with a clear vision: symbolizing her awakening from hibernation. This concept was both intriguing and challenging, requiring creativity and sensitivity to her artistic expression. To bring Keikee's vision to life, I explored the symbolism of awakening and transformation, aiming to create a look that captured the essence of rebirth and resonated with her artistic identity. She wanted a dark and archaic atmosphere, adding depth to the design process. The costume design focused on simplicity and naturalness, using natural fibers and simple shapes. The wide cut concealed her body, while the slightly textured black fabrics underlined the dark, archaic atmosphere. I also had the pleasure of doing Keikee's makeup for the album's photoshoot, aiming for an androgynous, alien-like vibe. After experimenting with solid red makeup around the eyes, which resembled traditional No-Theater makeup, we opted for a more nuanced approach using nude and lilac colors. This softer yet otherworldly appearance balanced the costume's archaic qualities, subtly emphasizing Keikee's features while maintaining the desired alien-like vibe. The photoshoot was exhilarating as we watched Keikee transform into the embodiment of her artistic vision. The final images captured the essence of awakening and transformation, showcasing Keikee in a powerful and otherworldly light. Working on this project was a nice experience that allowed me to explore costume design and apply my knowledge in makeup. Together with the amazing photographer HyeYoon Lee we fulfilled her vision and highlighted the depth of her artistic identity.
